AZ March for Babies Zoo Day

We had the opportunity to attend a function for the Arizona March for Babies today at the Zoo. We are one of the Team Families and this will be our 9th year participating. My niece Tera Evelyn was born prematurely and died after living 13 days. We love her and miss her and remember her with help from The March for Babies (formerly March of Dimes). We also do fundraising for medical research for premature babies. Anything will help. Even $5. You can donate at the link to the right >>>>> After our lunch and event we got to play at the zoo. It was David's first time and he loved it and enjoyed spending time with his cousins. I got to be pushed in a wheelchair because of my pregnancy. I wanted to be able to make it through the whole day so Tyler was kind enough to push me. David's favorite parts were the petting zoo goats and the monkey encounter habitat with little squirrel monkeys. He even got to get a toy monkey at the end of the day which you can see in his sleeping arms in the last picture. He immediately fell asleep on the way home. Good sign we had a great day.

Calling All Mothers

I am sick and tired of poop. David will pee in the potty fine but he will not poop in the toilet. I have tried a few things already but I would like to know what has worked for you. Please comment.

David's Portraits

After 2 years of my neglecting to get photos taken of my son, I finally got us down to Target. David is not a cooperative smiler. His last session at 18 months we got 1 blank face picture and then the rest he was screaming. I think I waited so long because I was scared it would happen again. So I asked Amy to come with me and use her amazing photography skills. I just got to sit back and enjoy while she did all the positioning and funny noises while the Target worker took the pictures. It was such a different experience for me. Here are 2 of the best.
Isn't he adorable!!!

Jim Butcher - Read His Books

This is the first of Jim Butcher's book series I read. It's called The Dresden Files. An awesome Fantasy story set in modern day Chicago. The main character is a sexy rugged man and the humor through out the book is my favorite part. He is planning on 20 books and book 12 comes out in April.
I loved the Dresden Files so much that I was hesitant to read his more conventional fantasy series. He wrote it after he started the Dresden Files so I was scared it might not be as good. I WAS WRONG! It's called The Codex Alera. The story is set in its own world with its own places and history. Plucky young hero that rises to the occasion. Very unique way he incorporates the "magic" in the story. I am addicted and so sad that there are only 6 and I am so sad to start the LAST ONE tonight.
Visit his website if you want more info.

The Day of 3 trips to Walmart

I love a good shopping trip like the rest of us but by my 3rd trip I was so sick of this parking lot. This morning I got up and went to the Walmart pharmacy and spent $60 hard earned cash for my prescriptions. We were waiting for our HSA account to be completed so that we could then use that money. So in the mean time I had to use our real money and then submit a claim to be reimbursed weeks later. blah! Then in the late afternoon Tyler and I found out that our account had been set up already and our current HSA cards were totally usable. UGH! I already spent $60 real dollars. So I went BACK to Walmart and went to customer service and they were able to give me back my money and then charge the Rx's to the HSA. Yay! Then I trucked back to the house to get ready for work and David ready to go to a sitter. Then at work my hair dryer broke. This is what allows me to take the frozen metal rings off the ice cream cakes. I couldn't do any work till I had a working one again so I got in the car and went to Safeway across the street. NO HAIR DRYERS. So, reluctantly I headed back to the same Walmart hoping no one recognized me from my earlier trips and picked up what I needed. Its been a long day and I don't want to drive anywhere for a long time.

Why can you be Pregnant AND Sick?

As most of you know I am pregnant right now, about 22 weeks, with a baby boy. We are naming him Jeremy Dale Daniel. I think God has played a trick on us women. Not only does our body go through changes to create the baby, also most of us get horribly sick. I have had my share of "morning" sickness. Now I am well past feeling nausea but have the very real possibility of having an ulcer. I mean, come on! Completely unrelated to being pregnant I have to get this now, which makes me throw up even more than in the first trimester. I miss food wanting to stay in my stomach. It's such a simple thing we take for granted. Eating. So I move forward, growing this guy inside of me. And despite it all, I am happy. I'm excited about this new little boy, about the change our life is going to have, about the love in our home, all while my head is in the toilet. I feel tricked but I am glad that happy hormones surge through pregnant women so we can overlook all the bad. I guess its a good plan. Thumbs up to my Father in Heaven.

Why were there Permanet Markers nearby???

So this is a picture of David cleaning up his mess. I had to take a shower this afternoon and he is too old now for me to take him with me. I usually let him stay in the living room to watch a movie and all goes well. Today I came out and sat on the couch and started talking on the phone. Slowly I began to smell permanent marker and wondered where on earth it was coming from. I mean, David has been mobile for 2 1/2 years now. I have moved everything that could possibly be in his reach that he shouldn't have....I guess not everything. I looked over at the computer desk and all over the screen and the desk was marker. Plus his shirt and face. He went straight to his room and I found a clue on the internet to clean the monitor with nail polish remover. So I got that clean and then calmed down a bit. I let David out of his room and made him start scrubbing the desk. I think it has come out as good as it is going to get. GRRRR!
