Slippn' Slide

David and I went to Amy's last week and in the afternoon she set up the slipping slide for the boys to plat after school. I decided I didn't want David to play on it in case he had a bad slip and hit his head. Well I was in the house he snuck outside and ran through the spraying hose water and sat in the slide. When I came out Amy said, well he's all wet so I don't know if you still want to keep him out. So what, I put on his swim suit and he did great running around with the boys and trying to slide throught the water.
At first the boys wouldn't slide and only run though the water. To get them going, to have an example and see it was fun and not dangerous, I had to show them how it was done. I had no swim suit so in with my clothes. I did it three times for the boys and then Amy made me once more for the camera. Then I supervised the rest of the time and warmed in the sun.

Walking

Unfortunately today David and I missed Walk America because David is sick. Yesterday he was running a fever and the same today while digging in his ears. So this morning, luckily, my doctor has Saturday hours and we got him to the doctor at 8:40am. After 2 days of staying in the house tending to a moaning todler I was feeling cabin fever. He seemed to be feeling better all drugged up on Motrin and Tylonol. I packed him in the stroller and we went on our usual walk. Today is overcast so it was a good time for an afternoon walk. And with my new phone that has fitness settings, I was able to see just how long my walk is and my average speed. The walk is 1.4 miles and I walked at 3.2mph average. It took 29 minutes. That's a pretty brisk pace and almost a mile and a half is awesome. I had no idea it was so long! Now if I can just motivate myself to do it every day I might get in shape.

David's Portraits

Well, David hasn't had professional photos taken since he was 3 months old. I feel really bad about it but hey, what can I do? So yesterday we went to JC Penney with a coupon from Grandma Daniel. David is a pretty easy going kid that is usually unaffected by variations in his day. I expected him to be great in the studio and smile at the silly noises the photographer made. I was wrong. He never was happy and very quickly he was crying past the point of no return. We stopped and she said I could look at the shots we did get and just see what's there. I had a free sitting fee so it wasn't going to cost me anything if I didn't get any of the photos. Shock passed through me as I saw the first few pictures. She got the sweetest shot of his face and their were 2 others pretty cute. Granted, the rest were of him crying with tears on his cheeks, but the 3 shots were more than enough for me. I ordered a bunch of the good ones and I have plenty for all relatives. There are no "true" smiles but the sweet shot of his face...well, you're just gonna have to see when I send you a photo. It should be in a magazine. He is adorable.

This is my most recent injury. I am horribly clumsy, but this was on the more serious side. I slipped walking down the wood stairs at the Daniels'. Imagine a banana peel on the ground kind of cartoon slip. Feet in the air. While in motion I remember thinking, "Oh crap! I am going to hit my back on the stairs!" I was ready for the surge of back pain but luckily my right arm came down just in time to take all the impact and my back was completely safe. After that, my mind then focused on my arm feeling like it was broken. I iced it and for at least 4 days moving it at all was painful. Now it really barely hurts at all, but the color has spread from just one little spot to almost my whole forearm. Crazy. (The picture flash takes away a lot of the dark color. It's pretty ugly.) I even think it looks like a defense injury, like I put my arm up to block a hit or something. So people probably think I'm a battered woman. Luckily Tyler was camping when this happened, so he has an alibi.

My New Beauty Tool

This is what my new curling fork (it has varying names) can do. It is not the easiest thing to just pick up and do. As I got about half way through my hair I started to get better at it and burned myself less. It is two poles and it looks like a giant tuning fork that you have to weave your hair in and out of by hand. It's what the celebrities use for their wavy hair. Or rather what their hair dresser uses for them.

Go Greese Lighting

David wants to audition for the Broadway cast of Greese. He certainly has the hair for it right out of the tub. .......And then Mommy has to wrestle him to the ground so she can run a comb through it.

The Hollands come to town

Two of Tyler and my bestest friends and their kids came down to visit on Friday. They moved to Snowflake in November last year and we really miss them. David especially misses his best friend Gywen. The Holland Family plus David Miss Emma and David Little "Tank" Teancum

David Houdini

This is how I find David most mornings. He is on his way down and out the door. "Oh, hi there Mom!" Then there's always the occational stuck moment. This is not as cute when it's in the middle of the night.
